BAE Systems has selected Habia Cable to support the Swedish Army’s CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle upgrade program. Habia Cable will supply cable harnesses from the Lubieszyn-based factory in Poland, for the CV90 tracked combat vehicles as part of the planned upgrade, scheduled for completion in 2020.
The modernization program will increase the vehicles’ lifespan and strengthen the Swedish Army’s capability to combat future threats. Work, which is already underway, includes upgrades to the vehicles’ survivability and combat system performance, as well as the turret system where Habia Cable’s cabling expertise will be utilized.
“This is a very prominent upgrade program for the Swedish Army and we are pleased to have a Habia Cable on board supporting the project,” said Stefan Löfström, Regional Director for BAE Systems’ Weapon Systems Sweden business, who is responsible for updating the original CV90 turret.
Habia Cable already provides cable components for the Bofors 57 Mk3 naval gun – produced in Karlskoga, Sweden.
“We are proud that BAE Systems’ confidence in our harness manufacturing skills has led to this contract expansion, from naval guns to Infantry Fighting Vehicles. The relationship we’ve had during the years within development and manufacturing is a success factor” commented Agnieszka Pavlovska, Factory Manager, Habia Cable Poland.
