Hi-Flex STJ flexible power cable

Our flexible power cables are ideal for hybrid electric drives, and our Hi-Flex™ cable range supports both military and commercial applications. All of our solutions come with insulated power cores for flexible use and are built using high-temperature insulation materials to provide an increased current rating.

Increased current ratings

All of the cables in our Hi-Flex™ product range are built using high-temperature insulation materials, resulting in an increased current rating compared to standard insulation materials. This also improves the space envelope of our Hi-Flex™ cables, since a smaller, lighter core can often be used for the same power rating as a larger, standard cable.

Mechanically robust flexible power cables

Our Hi-Flex™ cables are also mechanically robust and ensure a long flex-life by reducing strain on cable terminations and the Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) of each cable.

Military-grade solutions

The Hi-Flex product range was initially designed for use in military Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) vehicles to meet an increasing demand for higher power ratings without the usual increase in copper size and weight. As a military product, our flexible power cables combine a number of key characteristics for this market, including:

  • Oil and fuel resistance
  • Nuclear Biological Chemical (NBC) contamination resistant
  • Abrasion resistance

Civilian spin-off

With the growing demand for hybrid and fully electric vehicles, we’ve developed a cost efficient, high performance cable variant: the Hi-Flex ZH. Aimed at the commercial sector, cables offer the same power levels with the added benefits of a fully low smoke, zero-halogen and flame-retardant solution.

Around the world in 80 days on an electric motorcycle

During 2016 a group of 23 students from Eindhoven University of Technology in The Netherlands completed a trip around the world on an electric motorcycle that they have designed and built from the ground up.
