RoHS Compliance

RoHS stands for the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS). We are please to confirm that all products* manufactured by the Habia Cable group of companies are fully compliant with the new revised EU Directive.

Statement December 2012

Following the directives laid down in July 2006 with regard to hazardous materials and their use in industry, Habia Cable are pleased to confirm that all products* manufactured by the Habia Cable group are fully compliant with the new revised EU Directive 2011/95/EC, RoHS as of the 2nd January, 2013.

RoHS, 2002/95/EG, is an EU directive that restricts the use of cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium and flame retardents PBB and PBDE in electrical and electronic equipment. These substances may pose a risk to human health and environment mainly in the handling of waste and the directive aims to reduce the risks by replacing these substances with less hazardous alternatives.

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The limit for the substances is 0,1 % by weight in homogeneous materials except for cadmium where the limit is 0,01 % by weight.

RoHS directive entered into force in 2006 and our products are in compliance except for some articles where the customer has specified materials that are not compliant and the product will be used in an area that is exempted.

As of January 2, 2013, a new revised directive entered into force, 2011/95/EG, that replaces the former. There are no changes regarding substances or limits but cables will be subject to the requirements of CE-marking and technical documentation from year 2019. How this will affect us in practical terms will be clarified during Q2 2013. At the moment, it means no changes for us and this has been clarified in a statement if questions occurs.

* If specific customers wish to purchase non-RoHS compliant products and they can provide evidence of the necessary exemption, Habia Cable can support these requirements on request.
